Her HP was too low, she didn't have the super heal at the time, and she has 32 mm plates everywhere, making her ludicrously vulnerable to HE spam. The problem with Conqueror, is that when she was originally with the 457 mm guns, she didn't have good qualities to back up the poor firepower. 8 guns certainly are workable, as long as the rest of the ship is balanced around them. If Conqueror didn't get it with 457mm guns, I'm just amazed that people believe 431mm guns somehow will. They are NOT giving Yamato LOLPEN ability outside Yamato. It's just simply obvious, 8 guns do not work for Tier X BBs. The 457s were garbage to begin with, with or without the presence of 419s. The 419s are just icing on the cake to not take 457s. There surely will be misses in even the best of salvos, and the loss of damage from every missed shell in an 8 gun salvo is magnified that much more. The 457s on Conqueror are garbage not only because they don't have LOLPEN ability, but because they are not accurate enough, even with 2.0 sigma that they have. It's like having to take Bismarck without the cool secondaries and being forced to fight only in Tier X. And they are garbage in practical use with too many shells missing. I'm certainly more interested in it than a more generic suggestion like "An Iowa clone with quad turrets."Ĭonqueror 457s have 2.0 sigma, favorable dispersion. If given very favorable gunnery stats to make up for the disadvantageous turret layout and low barrel count, we'd end up with a quirky ship with very distinctive characteristics, which sounds nice to me. It will probably need something close to Yamato's dispersion and sigma value to make those 8-shell volleys really count, and it will probably need a bit faster than the standard 30-second BB reload cycle to keep the DPM closer to the competition. It's also going to need very good soft stats too, though. Fortunately, the French 17" guns seem to have very nice hard stats, with good muzzle velocity and penetration and probably nice heavy shells. I think an 8-gun BB can work at tier 10 without overmatch shenanigans, but it will need very favorable numbers on its other stats.
If BB balance is really that simplistic then what are all those other stats even for? I don't think a tier 10 BB absolutely needs either 460 mm guns or 12 rifles to be viable.
